Bruce
L. Mielziner founded the law firm with Gary B. Kabat in
1969. He represents businesses and individuals in addressing
their wide ranging legal needs.
One focused area of Mr. Mielziner’s practice is his counsel to small and medium
sized businesses in matters including startup and incorporation,
purchase and sale of business, shareholder and member disputes
and buy-sell agreements, employment issues, and state agency
compliance. Within this practice area, Mr. Mielziner has
represented numerous restaurants and bars, and has vast
experience in dealing with liquor license issues.
Mr. Mielziner also focuses his
practice on family law matters including divorce, dissolution
of marriage, custody, child and spousal support, post decree
enforcement, and prenuptial agreements.
Other active areas of practice
include probate and estate matters, bankruptcy, and personal
injury litigation.
Outside the practice of law, Mr.
Mielziner is an active member and former Umpire-in-Chief
of the Eastern Cuyahoga County Umpire’s Association. He
is also an active member of NOSCOA as a Swimming and Diving
Association official for 35 years.
Mr. Mielziner served as Chairman
of Chester Township Park Board, which was responsible for
the development and growth of Chester Township Park on
the corner of Routes 322 and 306, and served as West Geauga
Baseball Commissioner.
Representative Experience
• Lead counsel representing national
finance and leasing company as creditor in large Chapter
11 reorganization
• Co-counsel with partner Gary B. Kabat before the Ohio
Supreme Court in the seminal case Walter v. National City
Bank (1975), 42 Oh. St. 2d 524, on issue of commercial
bank rights of setoff versus bank attachment of creditor
• Forty years representing individuals in litigation and
negotiation of the resolution of family law matters.
